Art History in the Pub Special
London History Day
31 May 2017

7pm, The Hope, Farringdon, London

pre-book free tickets

Join us for Art History in the Pub in a celebration of the capital's rich history of art, architecture and alcohol as part of London History Day.

For this special London History Day edition we are joined by Christine Riding; author, head of art and curator of the Queen’s House at Royal Museums Greenwich and chair of the Association of Art Historians.

Christine will draw upon her expertise in Eighteenth- and Nineteenth-century British Art to reveal a seamier side of London and the Smithfields home of Grade II listed pub The Hope whose Juniper Room Gin Parlour provides a suitably Dickensian backdrop for this special Art History in the Pub talk.

This event is part of Historic England’s first ever London History Day on Wednesday 31 May - the date that Big Ben first started keeping time in 1859 - and included in a unique one day programme involving over forty of the capital''s museums and galleries.
